What and Who is MCC? PDF Print E-mail

earlyThe first Metropolitan Community Church was founded by the Reverend Troy D. Perry, a Pentecostal preacher who felt called to create a church where gay people would be welcome. So in October of 1968 he held his first service, and 12 people showed up. That message of hope spread across the globe and across cultural, ethnic and lifestyle lines. It was a simple message: "God loves you, whoever you are!" And many who had experienced alienation from the church heard the message and came home. (Click here to read Troy's bio)

While it is true that the Bible was written in the context of patriarchal, heterosexist cultures, the message and story of God's unconditional love in Christ can also be the "power of salvation" for our GLBT community.
